I recently received visitors from Germany. A (loud) part of the family followed me to Japan. At least for a vacation. But I was allowed to get on vacation, but only for a part, because I have too much work and I even had an internal presentation this time (but I couldn’t foresee it), therefore, I wanted to return (but I could have avoided it). I will also publish a few more articles about visited places after this article. Even though my family took the whole thing very easy and our visit efficiency was therefore very low…;)
For this article I briefly mention our stay in Ueno Park and we haven’t seen everything yet. One of the reasons was that it is Hanami time, so the cherry blossom can be admired in full splendour. In short, it was quite crowded and it even can be more crowed;)
There we also visited the Ueno Tōshō-gū. If you remember the article about the Kunōsan, you will recognize the same name. It is also a shrine in which Tokugawa Ieyasu is preserved and worshipped. From there we could also see the pagoda of the Buddhist temple Tōeizan Kan’ei-ji Endon-in, which we did not visit. We also didn’t visit the zoo, because there were already too many people queuing (the prepared queues were about 4 times longer…). Therefore we visited the Tokyo National Museum, which is also located with many other museums in and around the Ueno, at least until it closed at 17.00 o’clock. By the way, it is the biggest art museum in Japan, one of the biggest art museums in the world and the oldest national museum in Japan. Among other things, national treasures and important cultural assets of Japan are exhibited. In order to become a cultural asset, both material and immaterial, it must have an important meaning and go through a legally determined procedure. These cultural assets can be upgraded even further and become national treasures.
Now follow pictures. For this and also the following Tokyo contributions there will be pictures of side streets on our way to be seen and also some food (commented or not commented)
