The next day I visited the Sumiyoshi Taisha, a very old Shinto shrine. This is the main shrine of about 2300 shrines in Japan and was probably built in the year 211 AD. Thus this temple is so old that no (Buddhist) influences from the mainland existed yet. Continue Reading
Osaka
I am still alive or rather I am still working. This time I had not free in the actual sense, but because of a conference at the Kansai University I had the opportunity to go to Osaka and could hang a day and a half to have a look around. Therefore this time 3 entries come consecutively, because I could make a few photos. As one could also hear from the news in Germany, on my day of arrival Typhoon Jebi came across Japan directly in the region around Osaka.
The japanese Katana
The fabulous and legendary Katana. Ok, that may be a little exaggerated, but it is true that there are many secrets around the Katana and that it also fascinates the western world. Katana means as much as sword. The way it is forged is unique in the whole world, even if Continue Reading
The village of Utsunoya and the Tokai Nature Trail Bypass Course
Yeah, in Japan it’s the golden week and that means I have some time off and only had to work 2 days. To remove the (possible) question mark above your heads, I will first explain what the golden week is.Continue Reading
Food 5
Well, if you don’t have a topic to talk about, you talk about the weather or food. In my case it’s about food again. Nothing new in the East so far. Lately I haven’t done anything I could mention in this blog or I don’t have enough for one entry alone. Many little things, yes, but they cannot be brought together thematically. Hence again a collection of food in Japan. Some commented, some not. There are also repetitions, albeit as variants.
Japan – Hakuba
Yeah, this time I was kind of on vacation. My Sensei had allowed me to take part in an excursion of the International Office for International Students, so I was on the road for 3 days. But 1 day alone was lost just for the trip. Our destination was the Hakuba valley (with the village of the same name Hakuba) in the Japanese Alps. And for what? Of course for Continue Reading
Japan – Blood moon
As it is known, there was a total lunar eclipse, which could also been seen in Europe. However, only to a limited extent or not at all. But here in Japan you had a very nice view. I just uploaded a few pictures of the whole spectacle in this post. Since my camera Continue Reading
(South-)Korea – Daegu
Korea!? I think the guy’s in Japan! This is what some of you might have thought after this article title. Well, on a short notice it turned out I should be going to Korea for a symposium. We flew via Central Japanese Airport in Nagoya . The airport is located on an artificial island in front of the city itself. Since I was also mainly busy at the conference and the supporting program, there are not so many pictures of places of tourist interest. More like pictures of food. I couldn’t remember Continue Reading
Shimizu – Hagoromo no Matsu
This time I was in Shimizu, a town north of Shizuoka City, which is connected with Shizuoka. Although it can be said that Shimizu is the harbor part of Shizuoka, since it was originally designed in this way. With my trip to Shimizu I actually wanted to visit several places. Unfortunately, I could not find two more places, Continue Reading
Shizuoka – Mountain Manganho
This time I wanted to climb the mountains south of the city of Shizuoka or stretch there. That proved not so easy because of several reasons. Unfortunately,Continue Reading
